Font Ideas for Masthead
I choose these 6 fonts specifically as they seemed to fit into the genre of my magazine very well they are bold and stand out which collaborate with the word 'bounce' quite well as the font will emphasise the meaning of the word which could be described as in your face and informal. The font needed to look vibrant and bold. My genre of magazine is dance/urban so my font needed to be quite informal, I think my best choice for my magazine would be font 5 as it is bold I think will catch the readers eye on the front of my magazine as the masthead.

Music Magazine Front Cover Flat Plan
I have chosen this image for my front cover image as it is a good example of a medium shot and dosent contain much background. I will use photoshop to make this image suitable for the main image on my magazine.
Summer Photos
This picture is good to use im my magazine as it is a long shot also showing the background of a festival which is featured in my magazine. The lighting used is all natural and the large area and the large amount of background area enables the audience to see what a festival looks like. This whoto was taken at the festival of parklife during the summer. The colours in this image are bright and will stand out in my magazine.
This photo was also taken at the parklife festival and uses all natural lighting. I think it is a good image as it shows the setting of a festival. The big wheel in the back of the image catches the readers eye first then they begin to look around the image. It shows a busy festival with the amount of people.
Will feature in a story of my magazine shows the urban side and music of my magazine.
Maybe to use as a front cover image for a main story it is useful as the celebrity is on one side of thee image.
Has a main focal point and faids off into the background could be a good front cover image as it is a midshot.

Music Magazine Proposal
Magazine Proposal
I plan to make my music magazine based on dance and urban music mixed
with a hybrid genre of fashion as it is popular with my target audience.
TeenNOW is a good example of what I would like to aim for as it has a strong
headline with the particular features I would like to include in my own
magazine such as dance music and fashion pages.
The primary audience of my own magazine will be teenagers to young adult
girls ranging from the age of 14-21. I targeted the audience of young teenage
girls as from research I identified they enjoyed looking at fashion pages in
magazines and liked reading celebrity interviews which was the most popular
option. Another popular option was the main cover image on the front of the
magazine which people on my research identified as an important feature. I then
used this information to plan to use a popular celebrity with my target audience
as my main cover image.
The price for my magazine I have decided on is £2.50 as most people in my
research said they would page between £2 and £3 for a popular music magazine.
I would like to publish my magazine with IPC Media as I know that this
genre is popular this this publishing company and they publish magazines alike
mine. I would like my magazine to be distributed once published by print.
My particular feature stories I am going to include involves a music
celebrity interview with DJ Fresh and Iggy alongside festival information such
as who is rumoured to be performing and where the festivals are going to take
place I think this will be popular with my age range as many teenagers and
young adult attend festivals in the summer such as Parklife and Wakestock.

Audience Research Music Magazine
I concudcted my research through an online survey and asked people to answer it who i thiught woukd fit my primary audience In my results I found what was most popular with this audience.
I gave several suggestions for a main title for my magazine and the most popular one was 'BOUNCE' I think this is a good choice for my magazine as it is a lyric from a music artists song and it also sounds livley which fits in with the atmosphere of festivals and genre of music.
I researched what celebrity would be the most popular with my audience to give me an idea of what genre of music to put in my magazine and what artist to feature.

Aquinas Magazine Contents Page
Aquinas Magazine Front Cover and Contents Page Evaluation
For my preliminary task I was asked to produce a front cover and contents page for a new college magazine I believe I was successful in doing this for the following reasons. I kept the same colour scheme and house style throughout my magazine for the audience to recognise the magazine this could be suggested as brand recognition. I also think a success of my magazine was the main cover image as it was a good example of a mid-shot as it is a conventional image of the magazine and also focuses on the body language and facial expressions enabling the audience to identify the mood the magazine is trying to set which will most likely reflect on the cover story. I used the feature of a rhetorical question in a pug for the audience to make the audience want to buy the magazine and read the articles inside. I used banners to advertise the main cover story in the contrasting colours of my colour theme to make it stand out from the rest of the front page and so also the text stood out from the background more than the other smaller stories in the magazine.
To improve my magazine front cover and contents page I could work on trying and testing out different types of fonts and try to keep the front similar only using a maximum of 3. I could have chosen fronts to match my house style better. I could also try and improve my layout skills on my contents page and maybe use more images or a pull quote to attract the audience and make them want to find out more. I could have used a more attractive colour scheme, I tried to keep my colour scheme simplistic but it would have negative side as it was quite pale colours such as pink and blue which may not attract the audience to want to pick it up off the shelf in a shop as the other magazines that use bold colours may overpower it.

Detailed Textual Analysis of a Front Magazine Cover
‘Pride’ is mostly seen in the genre of a women’s weekly magazine including the contents of health, hair, fashion, entertainment and beauty. This is the most common topics for women of the ages from 16-25 till mostly read and is mostly likely to be the magazines main audience. Pride is seen mostly as a magazine to give women advice and guidance on day to day things such as fashion and health.
The cover imagine on my chosen magazine is an over shoulder looking picture of the celebrity Nicole Scherzinger the image shows her looking over her shoulder bit not directly into the camera but still addressing the audience and reader as she is looking from an opposite direction in the direction of the camera. The colours of pink and yellow are used as the dominant colour scheme for this magazine as they may be seen as feminine; white is also used to stand out from the dark cover image and the plain background. The main cover story is written in white over the cover image as it stands out from the bold image of the celebrity.
The masthead is written in a capital font and covers the top fifth of the magazine still using the feminine colour of pink clearly addressing the magazine was directed towards women or older girls. The word ‘crazy’ is an example of typography as a different font is used to implify the meaning of the word for example the text around it is bold but plain and is used in other parts of the front cover whereas the font for this word is different to anything else on the front cover and it is also in a different colour this could have been done for the readers to take notice of the word in particular.
A pug is used in the top right hand corner of the magazine saying ‘your new pocket rocket’ which could attract readers as women may believe it is the only magazine they have to buy from then on but also it could suggest the magazine is essential as it covers a wide variety of subjects that woman come into contact with in everyday life. Other cover stories are used around the space of the image mostly giving a womanly approach such as ‘surviving breakups’ or other people’s views of ‘having babies too late’ or ’89 ways to get into the nurturing spirit’ could all be examples. This could attract readers as it shows it’s a magazine that covers wide range of topics and maybe have a good value for money.
Overall the main cover story is important to the message of the magazine as it is directed at women and also the sub story’s the magazine features remain in the categories such as health, beauty etc. which are all seen as feminine. The overall colour scheme foreshadows this as the colours are bright and mainly stereotyped to women or girls. The main message of the magazine is to give advice and guidance or others opinions on topics that women may find important.

Contact Sheet
I have chosen these two images because they have the best balance of light out of all six, I tried to include as much natural light as possible to create the best image. I have also chosen these as they both have plain backgrounds and are both good examples of medium close ups which will be the best frame of image to use for the front of my magazine. The one on the left is my final chosen image because it has the best lighting and the framing using the rule of thirds is better.
